Robert Garth Kendall was born on November 25th, 1924 in Provo, Utah. Robert was known by Bob, Pop, Gramps, and Grampie. Bob joined the Armed Forces at age 19 and served two years. He was a Tank Driver for the Battle of the Bulge, being awarded many metals and honors; he came home a proud American. Following the Army, he began his career in the meat cutting industry. He started off partnering with a friend and soon became the Division Manager of Associated Foods. He was the best meat cutter in Idaho. He retired after almost 20 years in the industry to be closer to his family and his granddaughters. Grandpa and Grandma Wilma drove up to Hammett, Idaho almost every weekend to spend quality time with their family and watching his granddaughters grow up. He never missed a birthday, a basketball game, nor all the fun farm adventures. Bob was a true animal lover, he was keen for his first bird Albert, which he had for many years. After Albert, Lucky came into his life (Grandpa saved his life in a pet store!), and now Craig and La Rae Petersen have become the proud owners to a true friend of Bob’s. He always donated to the Humane Society and found a way to make sure Brandie and Carly’e ALWAYS had a pet! His love for animals was also passed on to his family, especially Granddaughter Carly’e who now is an Administrator at a Vet Hospital that she’s worked at for the past 7 years. His other granddaughter Brandie had a passion for learning and education, now working for St. Luke’s enjoying helping others. Craig and La Rae Petersen played a large role in Bob’s life, helping him in every way as he got older. La Rae would go see him almost every day to make sure he was happy doing well, and Craig took care of all his other daily needs. Feeling truly blessed, Bob was living in the Patti House in Boise in his final days, where an amazing Caregiver Sunny helped his remaining days be as comfortable as possible. Please send flowers or donations to Relyea Funeral Home and any extended Condolences to La Rae and Craig Petersen.
