Bio

Alice (Kosik) Vavricka peacefully passed away on January 4, 2018 at the age of 85. She was born in Wallis, Texas on January 9, 1932 to parents Rosalie (Orsak) and Andrew Kosik. She graduated at the top of her class at Wallis High School, class of 1948. On August 22, 1953, she married John E. Vavricka, Jr. and lived in Houston. She worked for Spring Branch ISD for over 35 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxilary in Houston and the KJZT in Wallis. She moved back to Wallis in 2015 to be with her family. Alice is survived by her daughter, Cathy Roach; son, Ed Vavricka, and daughter-in-law Sherri Vavricka; grandson, Lance Vavricka; and great-grandchildren, Caroline and Shane Vavricka; and sister, Bessie Kosik. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, January 8, 2018, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 2610 Demel St., Wallis, TX 77485. A rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, with Rev. Thuy Quang Nguyen celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal. Interment will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery in Wallis. Knesek funeral Home in Wallis in charge of arrangements.
