COEBURN, Va. Frances Trivett Greear, 82, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kaye Greear, Thursday, December 28, 2017. Frances was born in Scott County to Ollie and Bessie Dooley Trivett and lived the majority of her life in Wise County. Frances was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved the Lord and was a member of the Flatwoods FWB Church until the end. She loved singing, gardening, and visiting with family and friends. Her love for animals was well known by all who knew her. She was a wonderful cook and welcomed all at her table and into her home, entertaining them with her quick wit and humor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Gordon Douglas "Doug" Greear; brother, Carson Trivett; sisters, Frankie Meade, Pearl Sanders, and Shirley Meade; brother-in-law, Marvin Greear; sister-in-law, Marjorie Young, and twin grandsons. She is survived by her children, Larry and wife, Kaye Greear, Joyce and husband, Gary Easterling, Rhonda and husband, Rick Kilgore, Suzi and husband, Darren Potts, and Martin Brickey; and grandchildren, Charles Douglas "C.D." and wife, Whitney Greear, Mirandy and husband, Matt Rose, Emily and husband, Luke Penniman, Tyler and wife, Lindsay Kilgore, Josh and wife, Kaitlyn Kilgore. Frances is also survived by great grandchildren, Madeline Elise Greear, Molly Rose, Marybelle Rose, Mina Rose, Paige Kilgore, Nola Jane Kilgore, Izzy Kilgore, Channing Kilgore, Elijah Penniman, Gabe Kilgore, and Baby Boy Rose; sister-in-law, Nita Ferguson; and brother-in-law, Marcus Ival Meade. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Special appreciation is extended to her friends and caregivers, Fran Plaster, and Melinda Stanley and to Dr. Thomas Renfro. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 2, 2018, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Sturgill Funeral Home, 310 6th Street NW, Coeburn, Va. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Marty Puckett and Brother Les Ritchie officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at the Greenwood Acres Cemetery, Coeburn, Va. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
