Nellie May, 94, of Broken Bow, Neb., died Thursday Dec. 21, 2017 at the Brookestone View Care Home in Broken Bow. Funeral services will be held Saturday Dec. 23, 2107 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Todd Karges officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of the arrangements. Nellie Elizabeth (Graf) May was born March 11, 1923 in a sod house, near Berwyn to Wilhelm J. Graf and Carrie Mae (McCullough) Graf. Nellie attended schools in the Berwyn area. She married Dale S. May of Callaway May 27, 1946 at Smith Center, Kan. They lived in Broken Bow most of their married life. To this union two children were born, Roger (Verla) and Linda (Floyd G.) Houser. Nellie was a member of the United Methodist Church since Jan. 18, 1953 and was a member of W.H.O. Circle and Custer's Last Stitch Quilt Guild. Nellie proudly earned her G.E.D. in 1978 at age 55. Nellie loved her family. Her most precious moments were when all were gathered for a meal or holiday. Having someone "drop in" gave her a great deal of pleasure. She and Dale spent a great deal of time playing cards or dominoes, camping, fishing, traveling, enjoying and painting nature in its own setting. She is survived by son Roger (Verla) May of Goddard, Kan., and daughter Linda (Gene) Houser of North Platte. She is also survived by four grandchildren Jason May (Dana Murphy), Janelle Dameron (Dan), Scott May (Crystal), and Eric Houser (Debra); eight great-grandchildren Kayla, Ashley, Elizabeth, Nathan, Austin, Tanner, Tyler and Harper; one great-great-grandchild Mason; and two sisters-in-law; Marvella May and Jeanette Graf. She was preceded in death by husband Dale; her parents Wilhelm J. Graf and Carrie Mae (McCullough) Graf; brothers Everett, Ira and Marvin; and sisters Mildred Lee and Mable Vollmer.
