Patricia Lynn Cochran, age 71, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, Oregon. Patricia was born in Laurens, South Carolina, to Charles and Mary Houston on October 22, 1946. She was later adopted by Royal Cochran on April 26, 1956. Patricia attended school in Mountain Home, Idaho, and having married young, she later obtained her GED in April of 1967. Being born a military dependent, she also continued to be a United States Air Force wife for over 25 years. She lived all over the United States and held various jobs near military bases. Patricia was an avid reader and also enjoyed watching movies, musicals and Disney. She liked to write poetry and had one poem published by The National Library of Poetry. Over the years, she supported a variety of animal and Veteran causes. She was the Huntsville, Alabama, leader of PFLAG from 1990-1995 and also was the leader of The Wasatch Dystonia Support Group in Salt Lake City, Utah, from 2005-2010. She moved to Oregon in 2011, to enjoy her retirement and a "green yard". Above all, Patricia was always a fighter for the underdog. Patricia is survived by her daughters, Lynnette and Nichole Heilesen of Roseburg; her brother, Steven Cochran of Portland; and five grandchildren with numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, David Higgins; and a grandson. At Patricia's request, she wanted no funeral, and donated her body for the advancement of science. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center for her Comfort Care during her final days. Patricia will remain in our hearts forever.
