Bio

Martin was born in Anderson Co, TX to Joel Webster and Julia Isabel Camp Ashley. His father is buried in Guiceland Cemetery, and his mother is buried in Ferguson Cemetery. He was a retired senior electrical technician for Mobil Oil Company. He was residing in Lolita in Jackson Co, TX at the time of his death there. He shares a stone with his first wife, Edith Evelyn Gossett Ashley. After her death, he married Shereen M. Deyton 21 June 1990 in Jackson County. He was survived by his wife, Sherren; son Bennie Ashley of Houston and Bobbie Ashley of Fairfield; daughters, Billie Jean Ashley Padon of Cordele, Bonnie Gail Ashley Coleman and Jacqlyn Davis, both of Lolita, Becky Lynne Ashley Hudson of Edna and Brenda Nell Ashley Benton of Waxahachie; four brothers Fred Douglas Ashley, John Wesley Ashley, Roger Coy Ashley and Joel Clyde Ashley; 20 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. His obituary appeared in the Palestine Herald-Press, Thursday, 2 February 1995.
