Bio

Leon T. Miller, 87 of Cedar Creek, went to be with our Lord in Heaven at South Austin Hospital on March 15, 2007. Mr. Miller was born on December 28, 1919, in Smithville, Texas, to Adolph and Hattie Miller. Mr. Miller served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the European Theater. Following his service, he worked as a mechanic until his retirement in 1980. In the 1960s, Mr. Miller and his wife moved to Bluebonnet Acres in Cedar Creek and formed the Bluebonnet Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josephine Stanek Miller. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Crone and husband Bob of Cedar Creek; brother, Adolph Miller and wife Dorothy Jo of Elgin; sister, Lillie Valis and husband John of Taylor; grandsons, Robert Crone and wife Mollie of Cedar Park, Stephan Crone and wife Teresa of Austin; great-grandchildren, Claire, Caroline, and Peter Crone of Cedar Park, Isaac, Rebekah, Jerusha, Malachi, Jedidiah, and Asher Crone of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the caring ICU nurses and staff at South Austin Hospital. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Austin, with Reverend Mick Meyer presiding. Burial is to follow at the Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 6830 South Pleasant Valley Road, Austin, TX 78744.
