BURTON MYERS November 25, 1938 - November 3, 2017 (78) BIOGRAPHY In loving memory of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. Burton Ralph Myers, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Beaver, Utah, surrounded by his family on November 3, 2017, after many years of medical challenges. He is survived by his wife, Lee Ola Goff Myers, and their four children; Mary Ann (Kenneth) Bailey, Minersville, Utah, Wendy (Russell) Albrecht, Minersville, Utah, Burt (Emma) Myers, St. George, Utah, and Del (Heather) Myers, Beaver, Utah, 16 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren. Burt was born to George Myers and Zona Gillies Myers on November 25, 1938. He had three sisters; Della Rae Orden, Carol Blackner, and Kay Talbot all of St. George, Utah, and one brother, Karl Myers (deceased). He was married to his high school sweetheart, Lee Ola Goff, for 61 years. They married on August 10, 1956, and were later sealed in the St. George LDS Temple on January 31, 1964. He loved sports, played many sports, and enjoyed watching any sporting game his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have participated in. He enjoyed his growing up years in Beaver, and had an unmeasurable love for his hometown of Beaver. He graduated from Beaver High School where he excelled in his wood shop classes and developed a love for building. Burt, along with his wife and two small daughters, moved to Salt Lake City where he attended Salt Lake Technical College to further his learning to become a builder and craftsman. Upon his graduation they moved back to Beaver where he started his carpentry business, Beaver Builder, residential and commercial construction. For 45 years Burt made this his career. He was a meticulous master builder, wood finisher, and concrete finisher. His workmanship was of great quality, and integrity. His work included many homes, and commercial building in Beaver and surrounding areas. He built two homes for his family, and a cabin in Beaver Mountains. Burt supervised, and along with the help of many others, built Blue Mountain Lodge Out West. He had a passion for, and was an example of hard work, which he has passed down to his children and family. "Anything worth having, is worth working for" was a repeated phrase to his children many times. Burt loved hunting all wildlife, camping, collecting guns and hunting gear. He reloaded ammo and built arrows to perfection for himself and others. He was a lifetime member and supporter of the NRA. Through the years he has been involved in many civic and community organizations. He was a Beaver City Councilman, Plasnnning and Zoning Board, Landfill Committee, and served as Little League Baseball President. Other service included; Utah National Guard for five years, Beaver County Jeep Posse for four years, Hospital Board Member, and helped to organize and start the J.C.'s. Burt was offered the opportunity to be the Manager at Cache Valley Dairy, which he accepted and worked there for nine years. During his years at the dairy he made lifetime friendships and cherished them all. He had the ability to make friends with the young and the old. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of LatterDay Saints where he served diligently in many callings and Priesthood Offices. He served as a Bishop at the age of 38, served on the High Council, and has taught the gospel to many of all ages. He loved serving in the St. George Temple, and was a faithful and dedicated Home Teacher since the age of 14. Burt had as great, unconditional love for his family and was proud of his Scottish heritage. He will be greatly missed and loved forever by his family! A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday November 7, 2017, at the Beaver 4th Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary in Beaver and a viewing will be held on Tuesday November 7, 2017 from 9:00-10:30 am at the Beaver 4nd Ward building. Interment will be at the Mt. View Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
