RICHARD A. "DICK" GARDEN, 84, of Salem, IL died October 27, 2017 at his home, surrounded by a loving family. Born April 10, 1933 in Lyons, KS, he was the son of Rea Alexander and Thelma (Derifield) Garden who preceded him in death. A 1951 graduate of Salem High School, he also graduated Centralia College in 1958, and Oklahoma University in 1961 with a degree in geology. He was part owner of Garden Drilling Co., formerly located in Salem. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army from 1953-1955.
