James H. "Pete" Ashcraft, Sr. , 73, of Dumas, AR, died at Cornerstone Hospital in Jacksonville, AR. He was born in Wells Bayou, AR, to the late William Hogan and Beulah Katherine Hoyt Ashcraft. He was a paratrooper for the United States Army and worked for Southern Pacific and in construction. Also preceding him in death were 3 sons, Ronnie Lynn Ashcraft, Bruce Allen Ashcraft and Christopher Lamar Ashcraft. Survivors include his wife, Judy Mead Ashcraft of Dumas; 3 sons, James H. Ashcraft, Jr. of Redfield, AR, Dwayne W. Ashcraft of San Antonio, TX, and Donnie Ashcraft of Star City, AR; 1 daughter, Rhonda Kay Ashcraft of Mexicali, MX; 3 brothers, W.H. Ashcraft, Jr. of Pine Bluff, AR, Jerry Wayne Ashcraft of Pine Bluff and Winfred Ashcraft of England, AR; 2 sisters, Jane Glover of Pine Bluff and Irma Jean Milholland of Junction City, LA; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m., June 18, 2014, at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City.
