Obituary Robert "Bob" Doyle Venable of Duncanville, TX, died on October 12, 2017, at the age of 83 after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer's. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Ann and his brother, Thomas Jefferson "TJ" Venable. He is survived by his daughter, Robbie (Venable) Stinnett and her husband, Jim, of Red Oak, TX; his son, Jerry Venable and his wife, Mary of Buffalo, NY; his sister, Mary Lou Vickery (husband, Don), brother, Grady Venable (wife, Cherie) and his sister-in-law, Mona Venable; four grandchildren, Jessica Gentry and her husband, Jeff (Jessica and Jeff were Bob's primary caregiver for the past five years), Tristan Venable and his wife, Cassie, Todd Venable and his wife, Shannon and Jenna Purkey and her husband, Jonathan; seven great grandchildren; and many friends and loved ones. Bob was born on April 23, 1934 in Goldthwaite, TX. He graduated from Comanche High School in Comanche, OK, where he was active on the tennis and basketball teams. Shortly after his marriage to Barbara Ann Sanders he served in the U.S. Army for two years in Germany. Upon his discharge he moved his family to Utah, where he began his 32 year career with El Paso Natural Gas Company. The family relocated to El Paso, TX in 1962. After his retirement in 1989, he and his wife, Barbara were active with Texas Baptist Men's Association building churches throughout Texas. He remained active throughout his retirement until 2009 when he began his battle with Alzheimer's. Bob was active in the Southern Baptist Church throughout his life. He served as a deacon, advisor and friend to many pastors during his lifetime. Funeral services are 1:00 pm, Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel, 811 S. Cockrell Hill Rd., Duncanville, TX. Visitation with the family is one hour prior to service. Interment will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 16, 2017, at Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche, OK, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home, Comanche, OK.
