Bio

Creed Monroe Shomber, 89, of Mound Valley, died Saturday at the Good Samaritan Center in Parsons. Services will be a t 2pm Tuesday at the Mound Valley Christian Church with the Rev. David McCoy officiating. Burial will be at the Mound Valley Cemetery. Friends may call from 7pm to 8pm tonight at the Bath Funeral Home in Altamont. A memorial has been established to the Mound Valley Christian Church. He was born Dec 3, 1901 in Walton to James and Ida Bell (Gaunt) Shomber. He married Bessie Stove who died in 1927. On Feb 2, 1929, he married Mabel Mitchell in Oswego. She died in 1976. He was a retired farmer and lived most of his life near Mound Valley.44Survivors include a son, Glen of Mound Valley; two daughters, Neva Kesler and Carlene Griggs, both of Mound Valley; one brother, Ray Shomber of Emporia; one sister, Beulah Coleman of Kansas City, Mo; and six grandchildren.
