Bio
Floyd Eugene Mills, age 91, of Transfer, PA, formerly of Greenville, PA and Bedford County, PA departed this world on Friday, September 22, 2017 @ 8:58 pm in his home due to complications of Acute Renal Failure and CHF. Floyd was born on August 10th, 1926 in Bedford, PA to James H. and Pearl Morris-Mills. He attended school until the 8th grade. Floyd served his country during WWII as a Seaman First Class in the US Naval Reserve from 1944 to 1946. On June 30th, 1948 he married his beloved wife, Grace Maxine Shearer. Floyd worked at many places, including Damascus Tube (Shop), Reznor (Manufacturing), Tajon Trucking (Truck Driver), Sakrete (American Stone as a Truck Driver) and Delaware Twp (Road Worker). He served 50 years at the Fredonia American Legion as Treasurer, Chaplin, Armory and American Color Guard in many area parades. He was a member of the Transfer VFW and a member of the Moose and Eagles, both in Greenville, PA. Floyd enjoyed working with his hands, doing masonry work, working on cars, hunting, gardening, going out to the various social clubs, dancing and singing for his family and friends and spending time with his family. Floyd and Grace had 3 children, a son Harry J. Mills and his significant other Paula Coyle of Greenville, PA; a daughter Linda L. Hoovler and her husband Edward C. of Fredonia, PA; and a son Floyd J. Mills and his wife Mary Pat of Greenville, PA; 10 grandchildren: Valerie M. Roberts and her husband Chad, of Carrollton, TX; Eric E. Mills and his wife Vanessa of Spring, TX; Eva McCann and her husband Eric of Greenville, PA; TJ Marrie and his wife Sherry of Kinsman, OH; Mandi Zahniser and her husband Andrew of Clarks Mills, PA; Jason A. Mills and his significant other Jerry Matteucci of Transfer, PA; Amber L. Ice and her husband William of Jackson Center, PA; Edward J. Hoovler of Greenville, PA; Shawn A. Mills and his significant other Toni Whyte of Greenville, PA; Matthew A. Mills and his significant other, Carol Darby of Greenville, PA; 13 Great-Grandchildren: Katrina, Kevin, Alexander, Maressa, Emma, Milo, Joyce, Silas, Kase, Colin, Cassidy, Reid and Carter. Floyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife Grace; parents; all his brothers and sisters, Calvin "Bill" Mills, Wilmer Mills, Homer Mills, Archie Mills, Marvin Mills, Sarah Messersmith, Freda Ritchey and Nancy Mills; son and daughter-in-law, Floyd Junior and Mary Pat Mills; and a great grandson Alexander Mills. http://www.flynnfuneralhome.com
