Bio
JoAnn Mikel Strunc, 80, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. JoAnn was born in Bardwell, Texas, to the late Louis and Mary (Spaniel) Marusak. She grew up in Ennis and graduated from St. John High School in 1955 and went on to attend Navarro College. On June 11, 1955, she married Stanley Wesley Mikel and they made their home in Houston before returning to Ennis in 1959. After the death of Stanley in 1982 she married Frank Joe Strunc on August 23, 1985. JoAnn worked for Baylor Hospital (originally Ennis Municipal Hospital) for 39 years as a clerk. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Golden Crusaders, JKZT #25, SPJST and the Pink Ladies. She enjoyed spending time outside with nature and gardening. Her family was the light of her life and she cherished each one. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Mikel in 1982; and husband, Frank Strunc in 2002. Survivors include her sons: Stan Mikel, Robert Mikel and wife, Judy, and Chris Mikel and wife, Melanie; daughters: Terri Andrews and husband, Randall, and Joni Andrews and husband, Toby; step-children: Jim and Mary Anne Strunc, Mark Strunc, and Gary Strunc and wife, Patti; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Marusak; sisters: Dorothy Matous and Adell Pouzar; and a host of extended family and friends.
