Helen Selmat Sindelar was born on March 3, 1928 to Charles and Emma Selmat, and was called Home on September 17, 2017. Helen grew up on the farm her parents purchased in Grant County when she was three months old. She met her future husband, Frankie Sindelar, at a dance hall in Drury, Kansas and married him on March 10, 1951. They settled on the same farm, north of Medford, that she grew up on where they lived the rest of their lives. To this union was born their only child, a daughter. When Helen wasn't helping Frankie work on the farm, she worked at Smrckas for ten years, and an additional ten years working in the Medford School Cafeteria. Helen was very active in a number of organizations. She was extremely patriotic and was an active member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and the American Legion. She has been responsible for decorating the entrance to Rosemound Cemetery every Memorial Day from 1980 up to the time of her passing. Helen was a member of the Grant County Retired Educators Association where, just this last year she was honored as a Distinguished Retired Educator. She was also a member of the Redbud OHCE, The Red Hats Society, the Eureka Starlets, and the Enid Polka Club, just to name a few. Frankie and Helen were inseparable soul-mates, spending much of their post-retirement time traveling to different parts of the country, and even making a trip back to the "old country", Czechoslovakia, in their later days. When the Lord suddenly called Frankie home in 2010, Helen stayed on the farm, continuing to manage it. She was very independent. Helen is survived by her daughter, Karen Hart and husband, Phillip of Mustang, Oklahoma; grandson, Travis Hart of Yukon, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Kari Nunneley and husband, Brad of McLoud, Oklahoma; two great-granddaughters, Jaicee Hart and Kylie Nunneley; two great-grandsons, Barrett Nunneley and Brayden Hart and numerous nieces and nephews.
