Bio

Anna D.R. Graczyk, 94 of Sumner passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elm Creek. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery near Oconto. Visitation will be 5-6:00 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2024 at the church followed by a 6:00 p.m. Rosary. Anna was born October 4, 1930 in Hamill, South Dakota to John and Elsie (Schwarz) Ropers. She later graduated from Lexington High School. Following graduation, Anna taught at a one room school house near Oconto, NE. She was united in marriage to Edmund Graczyk on June 4, 1951 in Eddyville, NE. To this union they were blessed with five children. The couple made their home Northeast of Sumner where they farmed for many years. Anna was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Eddyville where she taught catechism for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting and spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory are her children Mary (Bill) Dawes of Inman, KS, James Graczyk of Sumner, Jaime Graczyk of Elm Creek, Marilyn (Ray) White of McCool Junction; daughter-in-law Kris Graczyk of Ravenna; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sister-in-law, Delores Ropers of Sargent; brother-in-law, Harmon Barta of Hastings; as well as many nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund; son, John Graczyk; daughters-in-law Sherry Graczyk and Cindy Graczyk; grandson Ben White; great grandsons Will Ciemnoczolowski and Elijah Graczyk; two brothers; and three sisters.
