Bio

Cecil A. Kauitzsch, 94, died September 1, 2017. He was born in Pottsville, Texas to Herman and Frieda Gromatzky Kauitzsch. Mr. Kauitzsch graduated from Pottsville High school and shortly after joined the Army Air Corps. He served as a pilot during WWII in the European Theatre and after the war, served in Japan during the Occupation. After serving his country for 8 years, Cecil returned to Pottsville where he farmed and did carpentry work as well as working for the Agriculture Soil Conservation Service. Later in life, he moved to Hamilton and started a business sharpening saw blades and other tools until his health wouldn't allow him to continue. Cecil is survived by his devoted wife of 74 years, Mildred Christianson Kauitzsch; their two sons, Cecil Michael Kauitzsch or Sunnyvale, TX and Gary Wayne Kauitzsch of Garland, TX; their wives Kellie and Suzanne; four grandchildren, Steven Kauitzsch, Donna Ricket, Aaron Kauitzsch, and Lindsey Kauitzsch; six great-grandchildren, Lauren and Michael Yeats, Collin and Campbell Kauitzsch, and Nolan and Knox Kauitzsch. "Papa" will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and the talents and work ethic he passed on to his sons. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Pottsville with Rev. Keith Reich officiating. Memorials may be made to be made to St. John's Lutheran Church. Arrangements under the direction of Riley Funeral Home, Hamilton, Texas.
