Willis W. “Willie” Cronk, 73, of Ord passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017, at the Ord First United Methodist Church. Pastor Tom Burkholder will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by the Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Willis Walter Cronk was born July 15, 1944, at Ord, Nebraska to Walter W. and Verna M. (Anderson) Cronk. He received his education at Plain Valley Country School and graduated from Ord High School in 1962. In 1963, Willie went to work for the Ord Cheese Factory. In December of 1965, he enlisted in the United States Army. Willie served in the Vietnam War and was a Sergeant E5 at the time of his discharge on December of 1967. On June 25, 1972, Willis was united in marriage to Darcy Thompson at Cotesfield, Nebraska the couple made their home and raised their family in Ord. Willie began his career as a truck mechanic for Roman Motor Freight. In May of 1973, he went to work as a mechanic at Ord Equipment which then became Case IH and later Titan. Willie retired in February of 2014. Willie was a member of the Ord VFW. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Darcy of Ord; two sons, Jeffrey Cronk and his significant other, Shana Chatterly both of McCook and Jonathan Cronk of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Robert Lawrence of Ord; 12 grandchildren, Devin, Joey, Andre, Hope, Ivory and Waylon Cronk, Johnny, Savannah and Alyssa Lawrence, and Paula, Christine and Michael Chatterly; a brother and sister-in-law, Rolland and Marlene Cronk of Ord and a sister, Lenabelle Rowse of Grand Island. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Suzie Cronk and Lareda Hoback; and an infant grandson, Jessie Cronk.
