Nola Lorraine Stelk, 89 of Grand Island, died Sunday, August 20, 2017 at CHI St. Francis Health in Grand Island. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Pastor Daniel Bremer and Pastor Rodney Armon will be officiating. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island is in charge of the arrangements. Nola was born on May 22, 1928 near Ravenna, Nebraska to William and Metta (Glimsmann) Jakob. She grew up in Ashton, NE and received her education at District 26 School in Ashton. She was united in marriage to Elmer Stelk on September 11, 1952 in Grand Island. After which the couple lived in Grand Island where she was a devoted homemaker for her husband and children. She enjoyed playing cards, crafts, & reading. She was a member of the DAV Auxiliary and Grace Lutheran Church. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her grandchildren & great-grandchilden. Those left to cherish her memory include husband, Elmer Stelk; son, Wayne Stelk and his wife Roxy of Chapman; daughter, Carol (Stelk) Bradshaw and her husband, Craig of Columbus; along with four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Nola was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Henry Jakob; and sister, Mildred Engel.
