Bio

Abraham Kern Smith. Son of Martin and Martha (Patsy) Tuggle Smith. Born Indiana. Husband of Margaret Green Smith who died in Indiana in 1888 when they were on the way to Texas. Father of Marcella, Emley Alice,Ellett,Dora, Elmer, Lawrence Curtis, Gordon. Died Mesquite, Texas. Came to Texas with his daughter Dora Smith in 1888 so Dora could become a teacher in the Mesquite School. He was a veteran of the United States Mexican War of 1846. He drove a wagon pulled by mules to deliver mail on a rural route in Mesquite. He died from injuries he received when stepping off a porch and hurt his hip.
