Bio

Ila Rae Roundy Brinkerhoff Van Wagoner, age 86, passed away on July 29, 2017 in Provo, Utah due to complications from surgery. She was born on December 25, 1930 in Provo, Utah to Loren and Mary Fredricksen Roundy. Growing up in Provo, she was proud to let people know she attended elementary school in the building that is now the Provo library. She married Jesse Brinkerhoff on August 2, 1947 in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on August 7, 1956. After raising 7 children together in Clearfield, Utah, they moved to Huntington, Utah in 1980. They bought JJ's Family Store, and ran it until they retired. Rae was a member of the LDS church, and served in several callings. She is remembered as being a missionary to all. She crocheted many beautiful blankets and dolls for her granddaughters. She and Jesse like to travel, and had the opportunity to serve two LDS missions. They served in Portland, Oregon and Nova Scotia, Canada. She always had an open heart and home for visitors, with a full cookie jar. After 58 years of marriage, Jesse passed away, and she and her children laid him to rest in the Huntington City Cemetery. She later married David VanWagoner on September 4, 2016. Rae is survived by her husband, David VanWagoner; children, Richard (Teri) Brinkerhoff, Gary (Carla) Brinkerhoff, Janette Sorensen, Glenda (Jim) VanWagoner, Ralene (Gary Grow) Larsen, and Loren (Kristin) Brinkerhoff; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Brinkerhoff; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Rae was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Brinkerhoff; both her parents; her son, Scott Brinkerhoff; one grandchild; and two great grandchildren. Interment Saturday, August 5, 2017, in the Huntington City Cemetery. Her brothers obit listed his siblings, four sisters and one bother. Mrs. Jesse (Ila Rae) Brinkerhoff, Mrs. Clark (Carol) Branin, Mrs. Earl (Mary) Alexander, and Mrs. (Eileen) Whitehead; brother David died as a child.
