Bio

Ruby Mae Ferrill Haddock, of Belton, Texas, formerly of Temple, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Luvida Memory Care in Belton, Texas. Ruby was born on May 28, 1937 in Elm Mott, Texas the daughter of Everett Lee and Nola Mae Ferrill. Ruby graduated from Connally High School in Lacy Lakeview, Texas in May 1955. She and Robert “Bob” Dean Haddock were married in Waco, Texas. Prior to marrying Bob, Ruby worked at the State Department of Public Welfare in Waco, Texas. She was a devoted wife, mother of four children, and grandmother of six. As a consummate mother and homemaker, Ruby was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Her most requested meal from her precious grandchildren was her fabulous macaroni and cheese. She was involved in many activities and organizations throughout the years, including quilting, needlepoint, painting, gardening, sewing, crafting, coin collecting and was an accomplished seamstress. Ruby was an avid garage sale enthusiast, where she loved to search for and collect antique glassware and specialized in collecting eclectic cookie jars. She is survived by four children; Robert “Bobby” Haddock and wife, Jacqui of Temple, Tracy Carney and husband, Rick of Belton, Keith Haddock and wife, Sheila of La Jolla, CA, and Kirk Haddock and wife, Bella of Houston, and six grandchildren; Jessica and Patrick Carney, and Kaitlyn, Ashleigh, Taylor, and Hunter Haddock, and her brother Johnny T. Ferrill of Elm Mott, Texas. Ruby was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob, parents Everett Lee and Nola Mae Ferrill, and brothers and sisters: Edna Lois Harless, Paul Clay Ferrill, Mildred Lee “Sissy” Honeycutt, Everett Ray Ferrill, Martis Wayne Ferrill, Mack Alvin Ferrill, Freddie Joe Ferrill, and just recently, Mella Marie Terry. The Haddock family greatly appreciates all the loving thoughts and prayers from everyone Ruby’s life has touched. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Scott and White Hospice. The family extends our sincerest thanks and gratitude to the Luvida Memory Care staff and the Scott and White Hospice nurses and staff who provided such loving and respectful care to our mother. There will be a private family graveside service at 12:30 pm at White Rock Cemetery in Ross, Texas. Pallbearers will be Keith Haddock, Robert Haddock, Kirk Haddock, Hunter Haddock, Patrick Carney and Rick Carney. Scanio Harper Funeral Home
