Bio

Elaine M. Kulwicki, 80, of St. Paul died Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Brookefield Park in St. Paul. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Revs. Rayappa Konka and Ray Kosmicki will concelebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family. Elaine was born on June 5, 1937, on the family north of Ashton, the daughter of John and Nellie (Lewandowski) Platek. She received her education in Sherman County rural schools. She was united in marriage to Alex M. Kulwicki on April 3, 1956, at Loup City. The couple first lived and farmed northeast of Litchfield for one year and then moved to a farm northeast of St. Paul where they lived the rest of their married life. Elaine worked as a nurses aide at Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul and in 1985, began attending Central Community College in Grand Island to study nursing. She became a licensed practical nurse and continued to work at Howard County Medical Center until her retirement. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women, quilting group, was a former CCD teacher and was a longtime funeral dinner chairwoman. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of America and was a longtime 4-H club leader. Elaine enjoyed quilting and vegetable gardening. She also loved her flower garden and growing roses was her specialty. She is survived by her husband, Alex Kulwicki of St. Paul; four children and spouses, Karen and Kirk Cisler of O’Neill, Ron and Diane Kulwicki of St. Paul, Renee and Tom Dalton of Malcolm and Kathy and Mark Seitzinger of Oak Grove, Minn.; six grandchildren, Spencer Kulwicki, Hannah Seitzinger, Thomas Dalton, James Dalton, Gregory Dalton and Amanda Kulwicki; and one brother, Arnold Platek of Clay Center. She was preceded in death by her parents.
