Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent April 1985 W. E. "Bill" Ptacnik, 65, ...., died Saturday, March 30, at a Grand Island hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Donald O'Brien will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be... at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home... Mr. Ptacnik was born Aug. 28, 1919, at Ord, the son of William and Barbara Kosmata Ptacnik. He grew up and received his education in the Ord area. He married Alice Swanek on April 9, 1945, in Omaha. They made their home on the farm near Ord. In 1955 they moved to Schuyler and in 1957 they moved to Grand Island where he worked at Vavra Sausage Kitchen. He retired 14 years ago because of ill health. He was a member of Eagles Aerie No. 378 and Blessed Sacrament parish. He played the Bohemian accordion in some small bands. Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Dave (Linda) Rehovsky of Grand Island and Mrs. William (Deborah) Simpson of Sparta, Wisc.; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ed (Dorothy) Novotny of Fremont; and his mother of Ord.
