Bio
Arthur John (Mac) McCarty, III,83, of Germantown,TN and formerly of Austin,TX passed peacefully in his home at Germantown Plantation on October 2,2015. He was born on December 26,1931 to the late Margaret and Arthur John McCarty, Jr. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Loraine Valenta McCarty. Mac is survived by his two daughters, Phyllis Allen (Bill) of Germantown, TN and Charlotte Foster (Jim) of Dallas,TX. He is also survived by a sister Carol Holub of Cedar Park,TX. Mr McCarty leaves six grandchildren, Stacy Allen Elliott (John), Bryn Allen Valenciano (Derek), Kelsey Allen, Leigh Allen Wallace (Robert), John Foster (Lindsey) and James Foster and four great grandchildren, Hayden and Parker Foster and Walter and Darby Elliott. Mac graduated from Taylor High School where he was active on the football and track teams. He married his high school sweetheart, Loraine, and together they ran Valenta Grocery for 6 years. He graduated from Nixon Clay Business School and worked for Taylor Bedding until IBM came to Austin. Mac (also known as A.J.) was a tax accountant for IBM for 25 years until his retirement. Mac enjoyed flying his homemade kites and baking oatmeal cookies with his children. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Loraine and camping in their trailer, fishing, golfing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mac also leaves behind an extended family of loving caregivers, Betty Cook, Forrestine Taylor, Bessie Lawrence and Carolyn Sanders. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to them and the staff of Crossroads Hospice. A private graveside service in Mac's hometown of Taylor,TX will be held at a later date.
