James Vernon Green, 74, of Penelope, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 16 at Wade Funeral Chapel in Hubbard with Rev. Grady Cashion officiating. Interment will follow in Penelope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 15 at the funeral home. James was born October 29, 1942 in Waco to Archie Vernon Green and Ina Mae (Hubbard) Green. He lived most all of his life in Penelope and was a graduate of Penelope High School. James was a longtime office machine repairman for Parson Office Systems in Waco and was very active in community affairs having served as Mayor of Penelope, on the Penelope City Council and also as a member of the Penelope Volunteer Fire Department. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed being outdoors. James was a member of First Baptist Church of Blooming Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, James Michael Green. Survivors include his wife, Edwina (Coan) Green of Penelope; three children, James Vernon Green, Jr. and wife, Amanda of Penelope, Stacy Allen of Penelope and Steven Matthew Green and wife, Tabitha of Waco; sister, Linda Joyce Kroll and husband, Jim of Hallsburg; sister-in-law, Twala Hughes and husband, Rick “Slim” of Chilton; six grandchildren, Shelby Lynn Kemp, Nathan Curtis Green, Megan Elizabeth Green, Jacob Andrew Jordan, Addison McKenzie Green and Brooklynn Nicole Green and numerous other extended family members and friends. Pallbearers will be Nathan Green, Jacob Jordan, Jeff Moore, Keith Reid, Billy Hueske and Tim Westmoreland. Obituary published online 14 Dec 2017 by Wade Funeral Home, Hubbard, Texas.
