On October 6, 1930 Frank Felix Grudzinski and Annastasia Catherine Kozial brought into this world a beautiful baby boy named Marion Kenneth Grudzinski. Marion was born in Aurora, Nebraska with a birth weight of 10 pounds. Marion went to school 1 thru 5 in Marquette, Nebraska at which time the family moved to Aurora, Nebraska after his father passed away in 1941. While in school, Marion loved and played nearly all sports. He was still communicating with some of his teammates in recent years. After high school, Marion attended college at Kearney State in Nebraska for a short time with a goal to be a coach. Soon he realized coaches did not make enough of a living to put viddles on the table for a family in those days. After quitting college, Marion obtained a job with Peter Keiwett Construction Company which took him to Texas working on a construction crew laying underground telephone lines for about nine months. He then returned to Aurora, Nebraska and took a job with Springer Olson Company, a Ford tractor dealership as a parts man. At this time, Marion was blessed to meet the love of his life Evelyn Joan Heiden at a church group skating party in Aurora, Nebraska. Marion was the floor manager of the skating rink. It was love at first sight! After two years of dating, Marion and Evelyn were united in marriage at St. Peter's Lutheran church in Hampton, Nebraska on November 18, 1951. Shortly after they were married, Marion left to serve his country from 1952 to 1954 in the U.S. Army in the Korean war. In 1954 he was decorated and honorably discharged as Sergeant Marion Grudzinski. Marion always said "it is an honor to serve your country before you have no country to serve!" To Marion and Evelyn's union four children were born, Marion Jr., Tommy Donald, John Karl and Dian Denise. Marion took his family to Central City, Nebraska for 2 years as he worked for Glantz Farm Service as farm tractor and equipment salesman. They then moved back to Aurora as Marion was offered a job by Thiezen Irrigation once again in sales manager, selling irrigation wells and equipment. Marion and his family then purchased a Ford Tractor Implement dealership in Aurora Nebraska. They were owners and operators of Marion's Farm Equipment for 5 years. In 1965 and 1966 Marion traveled through Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas selling irrigation equipment through different dealers. He did not enjoy leaving his family behind while on the road but during his travels he met a man named Harold McArthur in Burlington, Co. Harold offered Marion a sales job at his dealership which Marion accepted, and he and his family moved to Burlington, Co, in September, 1966. Marion worked for McArthur Implement until 1970 when he and his family opened their own shoe, boot, ladies apparel, jewelry and etc. business on main street in Burlington, Co. Marion and Evelyn were fortunate to have traveled through most of the states. Simply being home, gardening, doing yard work, walking, canning vegetables, hunting and fishing were some of their best times! Marion and Evelyn had many fond memories with friends playing golf, playing cards, bowling or having social gatherings. Marion was excited to eat his wife's gourmet cooking every day of their lives together! Marion could grow the most beautiful tomatoes with his special little secrets every year. His family, friends and neighbors could not wait for him to share which he always did! God was very important to him as he served as trustee and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for several years. Marion did not know a stranger; he could get anyone engaged in a conversation which was sure to involve some jokes and some laughter. Most people would remember him saying "Hang loose, keep the faith, and don't drink your bath water. Or, if someone greeted him with "how are you?" he would reply "Oh, I'm just like a wild bull wanting to get out of the chute!" Marion and Evelyn most of all over their 64 years of marriage enjoyed their family. Marion always said, "if you don't have love and family, you don’t have diddly!" Marion departed his life on earth on June 21, 2017. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Evelyn, his son Marion Jr., his parents Frank and Annastasia Grudzinski and his sister Helen and brother Ray. He is survived by sons Tom (wife Karen) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, John of Sterling, Co, and daughter Dian Trahern (husband Mike) of Burlington, Co. Grandchildren Ange' (Dan) Krueger, Shauntai (Dustin) Skarphol and 4 great grandchildren Daxton, Shayd, Ava, and Alexis. His brother Clair, sister Virge, and many loving nieces and nephews. There will be no public services. An honorary private family inurnment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado where Marion will be laid to rest with his loving wife Evelyn.
