GILMER -- Services for Ervin Lee McCellon, 84, of Gilmer, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with the Rev. J.C. Henderson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Mr. McCellon passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007, at a local nursing home. Mr. McCellon was born October 29, 1922, in Gilmer, to James E. and Leona McCellon. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Latch Baptist Church. Mr. McCellon is survived by his son, Joe David McCellon of Gladewater; daughter, Kathy McClellan of Knoville, Tennessee; brothers, J.L. McCellon of Gilmer and Charles McCellon of Longview; sisters, Owedia Scarpella of Ray, Colorado, and Sally Evans of Gilmer; and one grandchild, Kristen Kraven. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia Shaw and Geneva Thompson. Pallbearers will be Milburn Shelton, Moody Pool, Kenny Thompson, Sonny Hamberlin, Melvin Loyd and Darrell Wilson. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, February 26, 2007, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. Published in the Longview News-Journal on 2/26/2007.
