James Hugh Walker, age 78, of Winslow, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017. He was born on June 6, 1939, in Crosses, Arkansas, to Eber Franklin and Nora W. (Shackelford) Walker. James was a loving husband and father who could always be found lending a helping hand to everyone he met. He was a mechanic, as well as a chicken and cattle farmer by trade. He was the owner of the Walker Garage for several years. He was a firefighter for the Elkins Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was the Chief of the Sunset Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Hugh Walker; parents; and four brothers, Tommy E. Walker, Jerry D. Walker, Junior Walker, and Billy G. Walker. James is survived by his loving wife, Carol Walker of the home; his two sons, Preston Walker (and wife, Janet) of Elkins, and Vincent Walker of the home; one brother, Jack Walker; four sisters, Alice Hershberger, Dolores Gorley, Doris Rieff (and husband, Raymond), and Dorothy Brown; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Hutsell, Daniel Walker, David Keck, and Todd Keck; five great-grandchildren, Raelynn Hutsell, Sadie Hutsell, Landon Keck, Brinkley Wilson, and Sawyer Keck; and many good friends and neighbors. A Visitation will be held from 5:00–7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Moore's Chapel Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Brannon Mountain Church in Madison County.
