Marie Pesek Burrus Portland, TX Marie Pesek Burrus, age 91, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. Born in Wied, Texas, into a Czech farm family as the 8th of 13 children, she has been a resident of Portland and active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church since 1962. She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Burrus. She is survived by husband, James Burrus, son, Robert Burrus of Yellowstone, Wyoming; daughters, Jan Moody (Mike) of San Marcos and Rosanne Miles (Terry) of Portland. She also has six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2016, and a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2016, both at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Portland, Texas. The family wishes to thank Christus Spohn Hospice Program and their wonderful staff for all their help, support and love.
