Bio

Alton Roy Young died Thursday, May 27, 1982, in Baker. He was 65, a native of Smithdale, Miss., a former resident of Baton Rouge and a resident of Baker. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Carpenter's Local 1098 for more than 20 years. Survived by his wife, Annabelle Wroten Young, Baker; a son, Raiford “Ray” Young, Baker; two grandchildren, Gene Ray Young, Galliano, and Vicki Lynn Young, Baker; a sister, Laverne Barnes, Jackson, Miss.; four brothers, Martin Young, Baton Rouge, Hilton Young, Mesquite, Texas, H.M. Young, Natchez, Miss., and Carl Ray Young, Grenada, Miss. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Baker. Full obituary published in The Sunday Advocate, Baton Rouge, La., May 30, 1982, page 6-B.
