From Vaughan's Funeral Home: Alice F Canon, age 89, of Boerne, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017. Born in Lavaca County, Texas October 22, 1927, she was the daughter of Eddie Culak and Ida Maria (Laqua) Culak. She was an amazing cook and baker. All her family loved her pies especially. She always had a smile and a loving heart. She was married to Oswald Linnartz for fifteen years years until his passing, and married again to Marshall Canon for forty five years until his passing. She was a great story teller; her family's favorite story was the one about walking to school uphill both ways in the snow and rain, and all the cotton she had to pick. She loved her family very much, and would do anything for them. She was a strong Christian and shared her faith openly, having a scripture for every situation. Her grandchildren were such a delight to her, and she doted on them, always fixing their favorite dessert whenever they asked. Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Culak and Ida Marie Laqua; her brother, Melvin Culak; her first husband, Oswald Linnartz; her second husband, Marshall Canon; and her son, Gary Linnartz. She is survived by her children: Charlene Maytum (and her husband, Michael), Rodney Canon (and his wife ReJeania), Ronnie Canon (and his wife, Charlene); her grandchildren, Melissa Linnartz Luevano, Rachel Matytum Edwards, Bonnie Canon Walde, Ronnie (Buddy) Canon, Alicia Beth Canon, Robert Clint Canon; her sixteen great grandchildren, her two great-great grandchildren, and her sisters, Rosa Lee Schwope and Diana McCullom. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Vaughan's Funeral Home, from 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral service will be held on the following day, Thursday, June 22, at St John Lutheran Church at 10 am.
