Frances Mae "Tootie" Zitek, long-time resident of Staplehurst, Nebraska, gently passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at Brookdale Senior Living, surrounded by family, at the age of 93 years, 11 months and 11 days. Frances was born on May 6, 1923 in Shelby, Nebraska, to Fred and Rosella (Schneider) Huggler. She married Louis M. Zitek on September 10, 1940 in Shelby, Nebraska. They raised their three girls, on the farm between Staplehurst and Ulysses before moving into town in 1973. Frances was always busy, sewing, embroidering, quilting, cooking (especially her peanut butter cookies), doing word searches, playing BINGO and attending events of her children, grandchildren and then great-grandchildren. She and Louie loved to travel and visited the coast numerous times before he passed away in 1997. She is survived by: daughters, Gloria Lavicky, Diann Stava, and Mary Jane (Chris) Simonsen; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. She is preceded in death by: her mother, Rosella Huggler; husband, Louis Zitek; son-in-law, Ronald Lavicky; and grandson, Monte Stava. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial in Seward Cemetery in Seward, Nebraska.
