Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Saturday, 16 June 1918 Mrs. E. M. Brass Impressive funeral services for the late Mrs. E. M. Brass were held from the family residence, 823 West Second street, at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon. Rev. A. A. Smith, of the First Presbyterian church, officiating and interment being made in the Grand Island cemetery. Among the out of town relatives and friends in attendance were: ...(Note: guest list shortened here due to extensive names but two couples listed with similar family surnames were Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Craik, Okato, Kas. and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Brass, Comstock, Neb.). Annie Craik Mills was born in Shopshire (sic), England, on December 12, 1859. At the age of eleven she came to the United States to make her future home, and on November 23, 1883, at Marengo, Ill., she was united in marriage to Mr. E. M. Brass. To this union, two sons, both of whom died in infancy, and one daughter, Mrs. Oscar Vieregg, of this city, whose constant companionship with her mother has been a beautiful illustration of affection, were born. In 1884, Mr. and Mrs. Brass moved to Nebraska, and have made their home in Grand Island since 1900. The quiet, kindly, and unassuming character of the deceased endeared her to all those who were so fortunate as to know her. Her home life was ideal and her work in the Presbyterian church, of which she was a member, her charities and her kindness were generous, but unostentatious. Mrs. Brass had been in failing health for about one year and passed away at the family home Tuesday, June 11, 1918.
