Husband of Blanche V. Dye. His obituary reads: Last week's Leader told about the death of Arthur H. Sargent on Saturday morning, December 28th, as the result of a heart attack. Although many of his friends were not aware that Mr. Sargent had been in ill health at all, he had had some heart trouble for a year and a half or two years in connection with other disturbance that usually accompany deranged heart conditions. However, he was not confined to bed much at all and was in Sargent, December 26th and called at the office of Dr. McDaniel to get some medicine. Friday he had a heart attack but had apparently recovered from it. Then came another Saturday morning early and death came almost instantly. He had spoken but two words and life was gone. The funeral was not held until the next Thursday, January 2nd, in order that two sons and a daughter living in California and a daughter living in Wyoming could be present. The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Walworth, Thursday afternoon commencing at two o'clock. The Spooners had charge of the funeral. The funeral sermon was preached by a former pastor of the Church of God at Walworth, the Rev. Glenn H. Jackson now of Lenora, Kansas, who was assisted by the Rev. E. Irving Hatch of the city. Three songs, "The Old Rugged Cross," "Beautiful Garden of Prayer," and "Does Jesus Care," were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Swick, Miss Verlene Cosner and Frank Myers, withe Mrs. Elmer Wilson at the piano. These singers and the pianist live in the Lillian Neighborhood. The pallbearers were Stanley Swick, Jim Tarleton, Geroge Dressen, Temple Wykoff, Ray Wetts and Earl Metcalf. Interment was made in the cemetery of Gates, Nebraska. Arthur Herbert Sargent, son of Riley H. and Lucy B. Sargent, was born near Walworth, Custer County, Nebraska, on January 10, 1883, and passed away at his home in the Oxford school district and a few miles southwest of Walworth and December 28, 1940, at the age of 57 years, 11months and 18days. Arthur Sargent attended the school in his home district, and grew to manhood there, and on December 19, 1904, was united in marriage to Blanch V. Dye, who was born and grew to young womanhood on a farm a few miles east of Sargent and located in the Phillipsburg school district. To this union was born eight children, two of them dying in infancy. Those living are Howard Sargent, who with his family lives on the home place, post office, Sargent, Nebraska; Leroy Sargent of Norwalk, California; Eugene Sargent of Whittier, California; Mrs. Helen Jensen of Scott Bluffs, Nebraska; Mrs. Dorine (Harold) Pedrick of Whittier, California; and Mrs. Margaret Peterson of Riverton, Wyoming. Arthur Sargent is also survived by three sisters and one brother. Besides his wife and children, his brother and sisters, he leaves to mourn his death five grandchildren, many other relatives, and a host of friends. With the exception of one yea spent in Wyoming, his entire life time was lived in Nebraska and only a few miles from the place of his birth.
