A grave side service for Betty Roy Parker will be held June 14,2017 at the Shelby Chapel Cemetery in Athens with Reverend Chuck Hinton of the Athens Church of God officiating. Betty was born March 27, 1932 to Roy and Bettie Stewart in Athens, Texas and passed away June 12, 2017 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Her joy in life was in an intense faithfulness to her Lord Jesus Christ, a fierce devotion to her husband, Leland (Sam) Parker, and a firm commitment to anything she set about to do. Betty and her husband were near lifelong residents of Athens. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Alma Joyce Stewart. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leland, of Bossier City, Louisiana; son, Monte Parker and wife, Barbara, of Bossier City, Louisiana; grandson, Jonathon Parker and wife, Ciji, of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandson Jeremy Parker and wife, Karolyn of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother Edward Lane Stewart and wife, Jackie, of McComb, Mississippi; sister Mary Ann Moore of Fort Worth, Texas; and four great grandchildren, as well as, a host of nieces and nephews.
