She was known as Marie Kremlacek prior to joining the convent. Sister Virginia was born September 3, 1922 To Vaclav in Mary Kremlacek of Wahoo. She entered the Notre Dame Sisters August 12, 1939 and professed first vows August 13, 1941. In her 48 years of ministry Sister Virginia had many key positions in elementary schools in the Midwest. In the Archdiocese of Omaha she served at Saint Adablert's School in Omaha and Notre Dame Grade School in Omaha and St Wenceslaus in Dodge Nebraska. Other assignments were South Dakota Cedar Rapids Iowa, Chelsea, Spillville, Iowa. After her retirement in 1989 Sister Virginia served a full year for your as a sabbatical in the CREDO program at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Returning to part time ministry, she served in the hospice program through Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids Iowa. She also cared for the elderly in the parish, in the care centers, volunteered in the Medical Center library and at the local food bank. By 2001 she was recognized for the total of 2,000 hours of volunteer service at Mercy Medical Center. When her health began to fail in 2003, Sister Virginia retired to the Notre Dame Motherhouse in Omaha, where she offered prayer ministry and community service to the Notre Dame community. A heart conditions and Parkinson's slowed her activities in recent years. Throughout her 65 years as a religious Sister Virginia exemplified a service a sense of service in compassion, especially for the elderly.
