EMIL SCHAEFER DEAD. . . Retired from Business Several Years Ago Because of Ill-Health. SHARON SPRINGS, N. Y., March 24. Emll Schaefer, a member of the New York family of brewers, died here yesterday. He was President of the F. A M. Schaefer Brewing Company until failing health compelled his retirement several years ago. He served with the Seventh Regiment of New York in the civil war, and was Inspector General of the National Guard from 1885 to 1889. Mr. Schaefer married in 1895 a woman twenty years his Junior [Aurelia Elsa Runk], and her flight in April, 1903, with their two little girls attracted great attention. After pursuing her across the country, Mr. Schaefer caused her arrest at Morristown. N. J., but she again fled while the husband's suit for the custody of the children was pending, and nothing has since been heard of mother or daughters. Mr. Schaefer obtained a divorce in New Jersey on Feb. 5. Following his divorce, Minnie A Johnson Worth filed for divorce from her husband Gorham Worth , using Schaefer's divorce allegations of infidelity between Aurelia and Gorham Worth. Minnie was awarded a divorce decree and custody of her son with Gorham, making it possible for and Aurelia and Gorham to marry in 1905.Mr. Schaefer was a member of the New York Athletic Club, the Democratic Club, and the Liederkranz and owned a fine home at Mount Morris Park, which, however, was seldom occupied. Three brothers survive him.
