Joseph (originally Josephus) is believed to be the 4th born to parents Joannes Krzemien and Marianna Kawa in Lekawica, Tarnow, Krakow, Poland. There may have been as many as 10 children in this family with the eldest, Joannes, born in 1878 and the youngest, Laurentius (Lawrence), born in 1890. Joseph was one of 3 Krzemien siblings including brother Lawrence S (63199487) and sister Barbara Krzemien Barnash (16952523) that lived in Omaha, Nebraska.
