RAPID CITY|Darrell Dean Zander Darrell Dean Zander, 84, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Fort Meade VA Center in Sturgis, SD. Dean was born December 24, 1932 to Ervin and Hazel Zander in Rapid City, SD. Dean grew up in Green Acres, in Rapid City. The family moved to California in 1945. He graduated from Jordon High School in Long Beach, CA and attended Long Beach City College. Dean spent 4 years in the army in Washington and California. He married the love of his life, Celeste Jindra, on August 30, 1980 at the Chapel of the Hills. Dean was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Eagles Club. Dean loved to fish and loved his pickup. Grateful for having shared his life is his wife and his sister. Dean also leaves two cousins. Visitation will be Friday, May 19, 2017 at 10 am at Kirk Funeral Home. Service will follow at 11 am at Kirk Funeral Home. A luncheon will take place at St. Therese Catholic Church after the service, with burial at Black Hills National Cemetery at 2 pm. Memorials may be directed to Disabled Veterans of America. Kirk Funeral Home
