From The Phonograph-Herald, August 25, 1976, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Wayne Fries Dies in Accident - Wayne Fries, 43, of Dannebrog was killed late Saturday night when he apparently lost control of a pickup three miles north and two miles west of St. Paul. .....[funeral details]...Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Dannebrog with Military Honors at Graveside by Mickelsen-Larkowski Post 241, American Legion, of Dannebrog. Wayne LeRoy Fries, son of Harry and Alice Myers Fries, was born December 16, 1932 at Dannebrog. He received his elementary education in District No. 9 in the Cleveland area and graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Koran conflict. Following his discharge he returned to Dannebrog where he farmed. At the time of his death he was employed as a cattle feeder on a farm near Dannebrog. Wayne was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He passed from this life on Saturday August 21, 1976 near St. Paul at the age of 43 years. Surviving are his parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fries of St. Paul, a daughter, Jeanie Fries of Cushing, one step-son and three step-daughters, a sister, Mrs. Earl (Beverly) Volkl of St. Libory, three brothers, Lyle, Richard and David, all of Dannebrog, his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Katie Myers of Cairo. He was preceded in death by a brother Howard.
