GOREE, TEXAS -- Bernice Steward, 84, died Sunday, February 11, 2007 in the Knox County Hospital, Knox City, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the Munday Church of Christ with Greg Melton officiating. Burial will be in the Goree Cemetery in Goree, Texas under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home in Munday, Texas. Mrs. Steward was born August 14, 1922 in Knox County, Texas. She married James Byron Steward October 11, 1941 in Munday, Texas. Mr Steward died June 8, 2000. She was a cook for the Goree School cafeteria for 26 years and a member of the Goree Church of Christ. Mrs. Steward was a lifetime resident of Goree. Survivors: Two daughters, Pat Steward of Ranger, Texas and Tonya Cypert and husband, Buddy, of Haskell, Texas; One son, James B. Steward of Lubbock, Texas; One brother, Perk Hudson of Fairfield, Texas; One sister, Sue Baker of Whitehouse, Texas; Four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
