Dr. Joseph Zemanek age 87, entered into Heaven on October 5, 2015 in Duncanville, TX. Dr. Zemanek was born on January 1, 1928 on a farm near Blessing, Texas to Joseph and Kristina Zemanek. He attended the University of Texas where he obtained his BSEE and he graduated from UCLA with a PhD in physics in 1962. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. He married Maurine Hamilton, the love of his life, in 1950, with their union producing two daughters. Joe accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior on his 21st birthday and shared a close walk with the Lord by his side for 66 years. Dr. Zemanek worked for Mobil Oil for 39 years and traveled the world extensively. He was known across the industry for his contributions to the field of geophysics, specifically to cutting edge technology in the field of well logging. He retired in 1990 as the Senior Scientist for Mobil Oil having been granted 50 patents and authoring 13 technical papers. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Liddie Pavelka; brother, Victor; sister, Martha Johnston; & daughter, Marsha Lynn Zemanek Snow. Dr. Zemanek is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maurine; their daughter, Brenda Kay Nunley and spouse, Mark, of Houston; his son-In-law, Ray Snow of Ft. Worth; & grandchildren, Matthew Snow and spouse, Jenny of Ft. Worth, Bonnie Snow Daman and spouse, John of Ft. Worth, Ashley Nunley Lillis and spouse, Chris of Houston, Courtney Nunley Coffman and spouse, Ben of Houston; sister, Sidney Bridewell of Dallas; & 6 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held 6-8 pm on Wednesday, October 7, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, October 8, at 12:00 pm at Grace Covenant Church 335 South Parks Drive, DeSoto, TX 75115. Published in Dallas Morning News on Oct. 7, 2015
