BURWELL — Lois Elaine Bratka, 89, of Burwell died Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ord. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery at Burwell. Pastor Glenda Pearson will officiate. Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell is in charge of the arrangements. Lois was born April 4, 1927, in Central City to Godfrey “Fred” and Ida (Speck) Zlomke. Lois graduated from Burwell High School she taught school for three years. She married Frank “Bud” Bratka on October 10, 1948 in Taylor, Nebraska and they lived east of Burwell. Lois was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, Midvale Social Club for 50 years, the Rollin Pins Club since 2010 and she was very active at Bethany Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, her chickens and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Frank “Bud” Bratka of Burwell; two children, Connie Benjamin of Lincoln and Lex and Patti Bratka of Burwell; a son-in-law, Tim Meagher of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ray and Doris Zlomke of Encinitas, Calif. Lois was preceded in death by her son, Steve Bratka.
