Funeral Services for Mrs. Leona GeorgeAnn (Chisum) Hembree 83, Healdton are scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Eastman Baptist Church with Burl Solie. Interment will follow to Simon Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson. Mrs. Leona GeorgeAnn (Chisum) Hembree was born on March 12, 1934 to the late Mr. Tony Joseph Chisum and Mrs. Ethel (Brewer) Chisum in Burneyville, OK. She departed from this life on March 19, 2017 in Plano, TX. Leona was raised in Burneyville attending school at Meadow Brook. She married George Clint "Mutt" Hembree. They made their home at Oswalt and were blessed with 4 children. Leona was always a devoted homemaker and housewife. She enjoyed cooking; preparing big meals, always had chickens and was a great seamstress. Leona attended Eastman Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, George Clint "Mutt" Hembree; sisters, Alma Valceda and Velma Jones; brothers, T.J., Johnny and Billy Chisum; and son, Bobby Nipp in 2005. Leona is survived by her daughter Betty Tyler and husband Mike of Marietta; sons, Charles Hembree of Oswalt and Jerry Hembree of Lawton; daughter in laws, Glenda Hembree of Thackerville and Brenda Nipp Edwards of Healdton; sisters, Lucille Sparks of Overbrook, Peggy Chisum of Gainesville, Wanda Jean Young of Mesquite, TX and Betty Lou Chisum of Durant; brother, Kenneth Chisum of Lovington, NM; 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Curtis Hembree, Chase Waterhouse, Dakota Nipp, Johnny Nipp, Newt Nipp and Danny Daniel. Honorary bearers will be Jake Brintle, Larry Wilson, Winston Wharthen, all her old friends and neighbors and the Staff of Lake Country Manor. A family visitation is scheduled for Wednesday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.
