Bio
Barbara Ann (Holman) Gates, 77, of Purdy, MO, was called to her heavenly home on Friday morning, March 10, 2017, while at the Circle of Life Legacy Village in Bentonville, AR. Barbara began her earthly journey on October 15, 1939 in Wellington, TX, daughter of the late John Carl Holman and Cordelia (McClain) Holman. Mema, as she was called by much of her family, was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was a devoted caregiver, as she carried that into her career as Co-Owner of the Peachwood Manor in Cassville. Many things brought her joy in life including fishing, camping, her dogs, taking care of her yard, line dancing, horseback riding with family an she could also drive a car like no other. Mema had a heart that could heal and was always the peacemaker. Barbara was a Christian and for many years attended the Temple Baptist Church in Monett before her health limited her. Barbara is survived by her sons, Carl Edward Delano, of Purdy, MO and Larry Walton Delano, of Cassville, MO; her daughter, Lynda Dacy and husband Bob, of Monett;; sisters, Norma Ashley, of Bentonville, AR and Linda White, of Exeter ,MO; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by two sons, David Ray Delano and Randy Joe Delano; three brothers, Richard Holman, Clyde Holman and Charles Holman; one sister, Orene Amerson; and a half-sister, Oval Bird. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Buchanan Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in the Sparks Cemetery, east of Butterfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Community Baptist Church in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home.
