Bio

Robert L. “Bob” Lilienthal, 78, of Grand Island died Friday, March 10, 2017. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Daniel Naranjo will officiate. Military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Navy and United Veterans Honor Guard. Cremation will follow the service, with burial of ashes at a later date in the Cedarview Cemetery near Doniphan. Bob was born Aug. 6, 1938, on a family farm east of Grand Island, the son of Harry and Wilma (Hurley) Lilienthal. Survivors include his son, Bill Lilienthal of Alda; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara (Lilienthal) and Scott Sharp of Omaha; brothers, Harry (Wanda) Lilienthal of Grand Island, Ron Lilienthal of Doniphan and Dennis (Jana) Lilienthal of Grand Island; sister, Robyn Kamper of Grand Island; sisters-in-law, Sue Lilienthal of Texas and Ellen Lind of Elm Creek; special friend, Barbara Skeen of Grand Island; close friends, Cameron and Alfred; his ex-wife, Jeaneen Lilienthal of Doniphan; and nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David and Lyle Lilienthal; sister, Doralene Kamper; brothers-in-law, Lyle Kamper and Jimmy Kamper; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Lilienthal. Bob was raised on the family farm and graduated from Grand Island Senior High. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, then retired from the Naval Reserves. On May 2, 1970, he was united in marriage to Jeaneen Flesch. Bob worked for Coca-Cola, Ensley Electric, Van’s Electric and ECI Electrical. He then worked for and retired from the Grand Island Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was compassionate about others, helping his family. Following the passing of his mother, he helped with his younger brothers. He took pilot instructions from his brother Ron. He owned a Piper Tri-Pacer airplane. He enjoyed feeding the squirrels, antique collecting, auctions, Coca-Cola memorabilia and spending time with family and friends.
