Veteran of World War II and Korea. Retired from the United States Air Force. He was survived by his wife, Norma Frentress Winters of Salinas; and his mother, Susan Harris of Hamilton, Texas. ****************************** Obituary submitted by Elreeta Weathers The Hamilton Herald-News Hamilton County, Texas 21 April, 1977 Harold E. Harris, 48, of Salinas, Calif., formerly of Hamilton, died Monday, April 11, in Santa Clara, Calif. He had been ill about one year. Funeral services were held in Riley Funeral Chapel, Hamilton, at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14. Rev. Ron Horton officiated. Burial was in Indian Gap Cemetery. Mr. Harris was born at Indian Gap March 21, 1929, son of Mrs. Susan Margaret (Evans) Harris and the late W. V. Harris (William Virgil "Virg" Harris, Sr.). He was a veteran of World War ll and the Korean Conflict, serving in the Air Force from which he later retired. He lived in Salinas for nine years where he was employed as a refrigeration engineer. He was a member of the Salinas Moose Lodge No. 1165, the San Benito Pilots Association of Hollister and the Bethel Southern Baptist Church. He was married July 14, 1967. His wife, Mrs. Norma (Fentress) (Winters) Harris, survives him. Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Susan Harris; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Carlene Higginbotham, Mrs. Sharon Macias and Mrs. Eva Corona; two stepsons, Larry Winters, and Ricky Winters; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Mayfield, Mrs. Martha Dunn, Mrs. Lillian Bilton, and Mrs. Edith Allred; two brothers, W. V. Harris Jr. and Dale Harris; and seven step-grandchildren. Pallbearers were George Taylor, Matt Harris, Jim Harris, Steve Strickland, Mark Strickland and Don Hopp.
