Daily Post Athenian Mar 8, 2017 Pad E. Nunley, 79, of Athens, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017, at Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Eber Nunley; his mother, Myrtle Crabtree Nunley; and his stepmother, Ada Cornett Nunley. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Reba Crabtree; and two brothers, Paul Nunley and Larry Nunley. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and a former member of the McMinn County Rescue Squad, of which his father was a charter member. Survivors include one brother, Chris Nunley of Athens; one sister, Johnnie Mae Smith of Ft. Payne, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Hoyt Melton officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m. Thursday in McMinn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Kenny Axley and Jackie Harrison. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
