SYLVIA EMMA HOLUB WHARTON — Sylvia Emma Holub, 69, of Wharton, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1992, in Houston. She was born Sept. 22, 1922, in Hallettsville, to the late Edward Frank and Johanna Horecka Kresta and married the late Fred Henry Holub Aug. 20, 1942, in Hillje. She was a 26 year resident of Wharton and a former telephone operator for Texas Gulf Inc., having retired in 1985. Since her retirement, she had worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Knebel Electric in El Campo. Mrs. Holub was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton, the Catholic Daughters, Holy Family Catholic Church Altar Society, the Wharton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the KJZT in Hillje. Survivors: daughters, Jean Ferrell of Wharton, Sharon Pinebrook of San Leon and Tracie Hummel of Rosenberg; sisters, Evelyn Watz of Beaumont, Addie Lee Knebel of El Campo and Hattie Pavlu of Louise; and four grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 24, 1989. Rosary 7 p.m. Sunday at Wharton Funeral Home chapel. Services 2 p.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, the Rev. Ralph Baido officiating. Burial in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Wharton Funeral Home, 409-532-3410. Pallbearers: Glenn Watz, Anton Rachunek, George Krenek, Bennie Brod, Bill Macha and Clyde Schulz.
